The Fairbanks Local School Districtā€™s Board of Education acted last night at a special board meeting to employ Adham Schirg as Superintendent of Fairbanks Local Schools, effective August 1, 2019.  Mr. Schirg, who was awarded a three-year contract, is currently Principal of the Worthington Academy and Phoenix Middle School in Worthington City Schools located in Franklin County. He will replace Dr. David Baits who is currently serving as Interim Superintendent.

The Board of Education began the Superintendent Search in early September 2018. The Board received assistance in the process from K-12 Business Consulting.  After developing a Superintendent Search Profile based on information provided by parents, community members, teachers, students, administrators, and support staff, the Board reviewed the credentials of 30 highly qualified individuals.  Interviews with 8 semi-finalists were conducted on January 29th and 30th. Three finalists returned on February 5th for a ā€œMeet and Greetā€ session with 35 community and staff members, and to be interviewed with the Board of Education following the ā€œMeet and Greet.ā€

The Board of Education would like to thank the ā€œMeet and Greetā€ Committee for taking the time to provide important feedback that assisted the Board in their final decision.

Board President, Mark Lippencott stated, ā€œThe Board is pleased and excited to welcome Adham Schirg as the new Superintendent of Fairbanks Local Schools. Mr. Schirg stood out throughout the application and interview process.  His knowledge and experience will lead our district for years to come, and his enthusiasm for education and working with students is off the charts."

Mr. Schirg has served as the principal of Phoenix Middle School and the Worthington Academy since 2015.  He was Assistant Principal and Athletic Director of McCord Middle School for two years, Dean of Students at Worthington Kilbourne High School for two years, and served as a Social Studies teacher at Genoa Middle School for 6 years.  He also taught in the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow from 2004-2007. In addition to teaching, he has served as the head girls soccer coach at Westerville Central High School.

Mr. Schirg earned his Bachelorā€™s degree in history from the Ohio State University in 2001 and his Masterā€™s degree in education leadership and policy in 2012 from the Ohio State University.  He also attended Ashland University to complete his superintendent licensure in 2016.

Mr. Schirg stated the ā€œFairbanks Local Schools is a special community with highly committed students, families, staff and community members.  I am very fortunate and humbled to be invited into this community. I want to thank the Board of Education for this opportunity and look forward to serving the students, families, staff and community.ā€

Mr. Schirg and his wife, Mary, plan to reside in the Fairbanks Local School District.  They are the parents of three daughters who are currently in 1st, 2nd and 6th grades.
